High Plains Bioenergy™ earns BQ-9000 Producer status
High Plains Bioenergy's biodiesel plant recently received BQ-9000 Producer status from the National Biodiesel Accreditation Commission (NBAC).

GUYMON, OKLA. (Sept. 9, 2009) — High Plains Bioenergy's biodiesel plant recently received BQ-9000 Producer status from the National Biodiesel Accreditation Commission (NBAC). This designation is the highest level of industry-recognized quality assurance.

"Achieving BQ-9000 Producer status is just one of many goals we have achieved over the past 1½ years in our effort to continually improve our process so that we can consistently produce biodiesel that will perform for our customers," says Gary Louis, vice president of High Plains Bioenergy™. "BQ 9000 certification provides our customers further validation of High Plains Bioenergy's commitment to producing consistent, high-quality biodiesel. The BQ-9000 program is not only important to High Plains Bioenergy™ but we feel it is a critical program that will promote the commercial success and public acceptance of biodiesel."

High Plains Bioenergy™, a subsidiary of Seaboard Foods, set a goal to achieve BQ-9000 status for the plant as part of the company’s commitment to producing the highest quality biodiesel. The company operates a 30 million-gallon-per-year biodiesel plant that uses animal fats, including pork fat from the adjacent Seaboard Foods Guymon pork processing plant, and vegetable oils as the feedstock to make biodiesel.

“We are proud to be a part of the BQ-9000 accreditation process as we strive to lead the industry in having the highest quality biodiesel,” says Bob White, High Plains Bioenergy™ plant manager. “At High Plains Bioenergy™ our employees are our most valued asset and everyone at HPB is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality assurance and control.”

BQ-9000 is a voluntary fuel quality assurance program overseen by the NBAC and adopted by the National Biodiesel Board. BQ-9000 couples the foundation of universally accepted quality management systems with the production specification, ASTM D 6751, and has become the premier quality designation in the biodiesel industry. The program covers storage, sampling, testing, blending, shipping, distribution and fuel management practices.

"Our certification as a BQ-9000 producer of biodiesel provides third-party evidence of the quality of our product and our commitment to production processes that will continually provide our customers with biodiesel that exceeds industry standards,” says Mel Davis, business manager of High Plains Bioenergy™.
